Hello, I’m Dr. Ben Heun! I grew up on my family's farm in Fulton, Illinois where I learned the value of hard work, honesty and integrity. I first became passionate about Chiropractic when my local Chiropractor helped me overcome my severe back pain due to an injury I sustained while playing sports in high school. It fascinated me how knowledgeable he was about the body and how quickly he was able to help me feel better. I decided, I too wished to help people live a healthy pain free life.
At Palmer College of Chiropractic I studied various adjusting techniques and methods that accelerate the body's healing process, acted as a consultant to my peers in the clinic, and actively participated in the sports council club. I completed my residency at Active Chiropractic in Clinton, Iowa where my passion for chiropractic originated. In 2012 I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Palmer before moving to Ames with my wife where we started Back In Action Chiropractic.
My education didn’t stop there. I am a Certified Chiropractic Extremities Practitioner and a full body certified Active Release Technique provider. These extra certifications have allowed me to better diagnose and treat problems with the arms, legs and soft tissues that may be contributing to back or neck pain.
When I founded Back In Action Chiropractic, our mission has been helping you achieve your health goals. For some that may be returning to elite level sports, for others it may be getting through a day of work without constant pain or tension. Perhaps you simply wish to unlock your true health potential by ensuring your nervous system is functioning at its peak potential. When I’m not busy at work I enjoy coaching flag football, playing basketball, mountain biking, spending time with family and friends and leading the kids program, AWANA at our church. I look forward to meeting you soon and helping you get out of pain!
Hello! My name is Mandy Heun and I'm Dr. Ben's wife! I'm excited you've found our site and are ready to experience the amazing benefits of chiropractic!
I was born right here in Ames and grew up on the family farm near Stratford. Keeping the books, and over all office management are my responsibilities after earning my accounting degree at DMACC and Bachelors in Administration through Kaplan University. More recently I've become an active Independent distributor with Young Living Essential Oils. You'll find me a few days a week at the front desk assisting Erica our amazing secretary!
When I'm not managing things at the office I'm at home being managed by our wild, song singing, animal loving 6 year old son Levi and our dramatic, giggly, beautiful 4 year old daughter Arden. The newest addition to the family is our 1 year old chunky and happy, Seth. They are the joy of our life and we are greatly thankful to God for entrusting them to us. A few other things I love are trips to the bathroom alone, hot food and naps, but all joking aside, I treasure studying God's word through Bible Study Fellowship, outdoor adventures, and going to the movies!
